We were sent some Moon Dough to review by the lovely folks over at Blog Match. Molly loves anything like this and we have a house full of Play Dough, so I was sure she would be happy to put it through its paces and was interested to see what it was like too!! When it arrived Molly couldn’t wait to have a go, asking every few minutes if it was time to play yet…..the post man delivered it at 7.30am on a Monday morning – most defiantly NOT the time for playing, well not in my eyes anyway!
I was impressed at how compact it was, everything all in one neat little box, makes is much easier to find a home for it, with two very young children in this house, I love things that are easy to store, and this certainly is.

Later that day once Alfie was having his nap, we got to grips with the Moon Dough Fun Pack. In the pack we were sent we got 3 different colours of Moon Dough and 20 different tools for making different things.
Molly really liked it, she was able to get the dough into the shapes and make some quite impressive different things with it and she had lots of fun doing so. Although she did say it “Felt very weird” to touch which to be fair it does, but it doesn’t leave the sticky dryness on your hands like Play Dough does. It is very dry and soft, but easy to mould and shape.

At one point Molly said, “Mummy this is ACTUALLY good” the huge emphasis on the actually did make me laugh, it was as if things she usually plays with are not! She really did love it. The dough is soft enough for them to be able to squish it into the moulds easily, Molly did need a little help when it came to removing the dough from the moulds but overall she played with it independently (because of course she can do everything on her own now she is three!).
The great thing about Moon Dough is that it never dries out, is hypo-allergenic, wheat free and is easy to clean up. You can mix the colours together to make different ones too, we have not attempted that yet, but I am sure we will do in time! We have played with this three days in a row now (by request I may add!) and each day the dough has been packed into the container and it has not dried out one little bit so far! The recommended age for the product is 3-5 years so was perfect for Molly, Alfie has not had a go as he is too little, but it would be a perfect product for boy or girl.
I did find that the Moon Dough was quite flaky when playing with it and although it did clean up easily it did get quite messy when we were playing. I also felt that in comparison to the amount of tools and moulds provided, the amount of dough in the pack was disappointing. Overall though a great product and ideal for the age range it is aimed at.
